15 Creatively Gory Moments in the Sin City Comics and Graphic Novels

For the penultimate murder in his Sin City-wide rampage, Marv catches Kevin the Cannibal with a pair of handcuffs. Then he semi-surgically removes Kevin's limbs and uses them as appetizers for Kevin's man-eating wolf. Kevin's spookily silent quadriplegic corpus is the main course. It's gory, but thanks to medical tubing and Marv's mitts, it's relatively tidy.

When Marv gets locked up with Lucille in Kevin's dungeon, she keeps her cool for a moment before revealing that her hand is now a stump (courtesy of cannibalism). Wrapped in bandages, the goriest aspects come through her description of being made to watch Kevin suck the meat off of her fingers.

Kevin decorates his man cave with the faces of beautiful women, which is totally normal, except his man cave is a dungeon, and the faces are more like whole heads that aren't attached to bodies anymore because Kevin ate said bodies. So really, it's not normal at all.

Having failed to fully castrate Rourke Jr. on his first attempt, Hartigan finishes the job eight years later. Not only does Hartigan remove the younger Rourke's genitals with his bare hands, he also smashes his yellowed head into a pulpy soup. 

After toying with Vinnie for far too long (at least according to Dwight), Miho uses her roller skates to deliver what is probably the most awesome decapitation in all of Sin City (and there are a lot). Roller skates and roller-booting are extremely under-utilized in non-Frank Miller comics.

Hartigan blasts off (or more accurately, tries to blast off) Roark Jr.'s testicles in their first battle over skinny little Nancy Callahan. He also blows off Junior's hand. Unfortunately for all the non-Roarks in Basin City, his parts grow back yellower and nastier than ever.

In between the indignities she inflicts on Jackie Boy, deadly little Miho finds time to jab her katanas through the brains of three of his compatriots before decapitating a fourth. 

Once his head clears a little, Marv remembers that the inciting incident in "Just Another Saturday Night" was some frat boys burning the homeless. That's pretty horrific, even for frat boys.

The "god damn hero cop" suffers a comical gore fest at the hands of Miho. First, his hand is removed by her throwing star. He subsequently falls on said star, lodging it in his buttcheek. Then she blocks the barrel of his gun, it backfires, and the shrapnel flies straight into his brain. Finally, Miho cuts his head off with a katana, but it doesn't come off clean. Says Dwight: "She makes a Pez dispenser out of him."

Marv's narration doesn't say what he does to Cardinal Roark, but he does mention that it's very, very bad. We get to see one panel where Marv's face is drenched in blood, and the Cardinal's fingers are pointed in the wrong directions. It safe to say Marv did more than just pop the corrupt clergyman's knuckles.

Delia is in the middle of choking her target while having sex with him when she realizes she's got the wrong man. At that point, he already knows too much, so she stabs his brain with a projectile high heel to the eye. The poor guy's wife gets killed too. Delia is mean.

When Manute catches Dwight with Ava, Dwight gets sent through a second- or third-story window in his birthday suit. That leads to a lot of glass shards, a lot of cuts, and one bloody mess on the pavement.
