Deal | MSI Modern 15 office laptop now just $499 USD with 11th gen Core i5 CPU, 8 GB expandable RAM, and 512 GB NVMe SSD

Newegg is currently holding a sale on the MSI Modern 15 office laptop for $350 USD off the original launch price of $850. Though the chassis is now two years old, this particular sale configuration has been updated to Intel's latest 11th gen Core i5-1155G7 CPU and so it is not some older clearance model. The main catch is that buyers must fill out and mail a physical rebate form if they want to take full advantage of the sale. 

There are three key hardware drawbacks that potential buyers will want to keep in mind before purchasing. Firstly, RAM is only 8 GB which is just half of the recommended capacity. This is fortunately not a permanent problem since RAM is expandable (2x SODIMM) and not soldered on the Modern 15. Secondly, Thunderbolt is not supported on this sale configuration as users must upgrade to the costlier Core i7 SKU for such a feature. Lastly, the 1080p IPS display covers only about 60 percent of sRGB compared to >90 percent on pricier Ultrabooks. For undemanding office-type work and word processing, however, this sale is still a solid deal especially at this particular price range.
