Collaboration is both an important part of learning and a valuable skill in itself. Our students will need to problem solve, effectively communicate, and build solutions with others in their professional roles, as community leaders, and amongst their social circles. As educators, we focus on creating ample opportunities for collaboration and building classroom cultures that aid in the development of these essential, transferable skills.
Self-paced classrooms promote collaboration
The Modern Classroom instructional model allows for teachers to adapt blended, self-paced, and mastery-based learning to best meet their students’ needs within the discipline they teach. We are frequently asked how teachers can facilitate collaboration in a self-paced classroom. There is a common misconception that blended, self-paced classrooms isolate students from one another because “they spend all of their time on computers”. In reality, a self-paced classroom provides an ideal environment for fostering authentic, learner-driven collaboration among students.
