Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour is hard at work in the recording studio laying down new music, reportedly for an album release in 2024.

Over the past 18 months, the guitar legend’s wife, author and lyricist Polly Samson, has been posting photos on Instagram of Gilmour working at his Brighton recording studio.

In recent weeks, Polly Sampson has been ramping up the number of studio photos she has been sharing of her husband and the musicians he’s working with.

The musicians include ‘Rattle That Lock’ pianist Roger Eno (brother of Brian Eno) and esteemed bassist Guy Pratt, who has worked with both Pink Floyd and David Gilmour numerous times and is a current member of Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets.

Also in Polly Samson’s photographs are drummer Adam Betts, who has worked with Pulp and dance acts including Pete Tong, Goldie and Squarepusher, and bassist Tom Herbert, who has played with Mercury Prize nominated bands The Invisible and Polar Bear.

Earlier today (21st December), Samson shared a pic of Gilmour with producer Charlie Andrew. His credits include Alt-J, James, Wolf Alice and London Grammar.

It’s currently unclear what the studio sessions are for, however Pink Floyd fan site Neptune Pink Floyd reports that Samson told Romanian entertainment website Zile si Nopti that Gilmour is working on an album of original material.

If a solo album does see the light of day in 2024, it will be David Gilmour’s first album since 2015’s chart-topping ‘Rattle That Lock.’

Gilmour released the standalone solo single ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ in 2020 and he briefly revived Pink Floyd alongside Nick Mason for the charity single ‘Hey, Hey, Rise Up!’ featuring the Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band BoomBox.

David Gilmour hasn’t performed a full concert live since his six-night residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall in September 2016.
