Smart Classrooms is now the “In” Thing in Modern Education

Learning is a highly prioritized entity in the modern setting wherein education is quickly evolving and changing due to its dynamism. Institutions must quickly adapt to the fast paced advancements in teaching method and technologies in order to maximize and utilize the full potential of knowledge and information.  This is why smart classrooms were created out of necessity.

Smart classrooms are special classrooms that are technologically enhanced in order to promote prospects of new ways of teaching and learning. It utilizes modern technology like computers or macs, special computer programs and software, compliant local area networks, and special access to academic websites through the World Wide Web with a fast Internet connection. Also, one of the most important features of a smart classroom is the capability for audio-visual presentations through projectors and special audio speakers and assistive audio devices. To design a smart classroom, flexibility is one of the key elements that should be observed.

This is in order to accommodate the need of the different situations that are faced in a fast changing academic setting.  The other key element in creating a smart classroom is the utilization of the teaching space available in the four corners of the room itself. This implies that a smart classroom should offer a wide range of capabilities for teaching that may be reasonably required as circumstances arises.

Now, let us dwell on the specific procedures on setting up a smart classroom. First, let us talk about the computer. A smart classroom should have a centralized server; in this case, the main computer that must accommodate the network for optimized sharing of educational materials by using information tech. this computer may be a mac, a pc, or a laptop that should have high specs in order to be able to function with high performance.

This computer can also be equipped with specialized software designed specifically for the purpose of the school or university. This computer must be easily accessible and retired at will. As the main server, this computer should be put in a strategic place within the classroom and a systematic scheme of wiring and wireless networks should be set-up along with it on order for other devices like laptops, tablets, phones and other gadgets be able to connect to it.

The other physical element for a smart classroom is the audio-visual equipment that is used for teaching. This equipment is mainly the LCD projector, LCD projecting screen and audio devices set-up inside the classroom and may include DVD players and other assistive audio devices like microphone units and specialized sound systems. It is highly recommended that this equipment be as accommodating as possible by being adaptable and flexible. This can be done by making it easily adjustable and stable through the use of electric actuator. This linear motion system will provide the flexibility of a highly alterable setting for the audio and visual presentations done inside the classroom as compared to fixed mounted equipment.

By mounting an LCD projector to a linear motion system, a smart classroom can utilize the four walls, the floor and may offer a more exciting method of learning through the use of 3D space within the classroom. This gives the implication that mounting the other equipment like the DVD player, sound system, and computer to linear motion systems can also be done in order to make it adaptable and flexible according to the needs of the moment in the leaning experience of the students.

Linear motion systems also provides the need of the equipment to be easily accessed, retired, or adjusted for the relative teaching method.  Methods of utilizing unused space within the room are highly recommended as being adjustable for the demands of a continuously changing setting space are the keys of the performance of a smart classroom.
