Sofía Vergara reacts to Kelly Clarkson minimizing her Griselda transformation: 'Shut up!'

Sofía Vergara wants you to appreciate the countless hours she spent in the makeup chair for Griselda.

In an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Modern Family actress discussed her physical transformation to play drug queenpin Griselda Blanco on the new Netflix crime series. "I feel like they only changed your nose or something… I don't know what they did," host Kelly Clarkson said.

"What?" Vergara responded. "Are you crazy?" Clarkson tried to reiterate that the change “looks slight.” "No, Kelly, it was hours!" Vergara humorously insisted. “Don’t be jealous!”

"The slight change completely changed your being," Clarkson said. "It was a wig! Shut up. It was a wig!” Vergara shouted. “It was a lot! They did a lot to me! It was teeth, it was wig, it was nose. It was plastic from here to here."

Clarkson finally got her point across: "They did such a good job that it looked seamless. You literally look like you could actually just be this person in other movies,” she said. “You could have two careers. You look like a different actress playing the role, you could have a whole different life as this actress."

Vergara responded with appreciation once she stopped playing up her frustration for comedic effect. "That is exactly what I wanted, that reaction. And I love that you thought it was just a little thing, because that means it looks natural,” she said.

Vergara also explained that she was concerned that audiences might not believe her in a more dramatic role. “I was always worried, when I decided to do it…I wanted Sofía and Gloria Pritchett to disappear,” she said. “I didn’t want the audience to say ‘Why does Gloria Pritchett think that with that rubber nose, she can trick us into that she’s a dramatic killer actress?’”
