Pyramid head (Silent Hill) WIP - shader help

Hi,

I’m working in this version of pyramid head from silent hill 2. I think the model is going good so far, but I really need help with the shaders in Z-brush.

I want to texture him in z-brush, but I’m really lost I don’t know how to do some things, starting with the basics rs.

So if someone have some good tutorial of skinshaders and good materials I’ll be pretty glad !

Actually, Neville Page (lead creature designer for Cloverfield, Avatar, Star Trek…) has a pretty nifty tutorial on gnomonology.com for creating materials in Photoshop. And it’s a free view! He takes you through all the steps on how to create a material, load it into ZBrush and apply it to your models. Might not be exactly what you’re looking for as far as Skin shaders go, but it’s REALLY neat nonetheless.

Just go to gnomonology.com, click on “Freebies” and go to ZBrush. You’ll have to create an account on the site to view it but it’s SUPER worth it for all the stuff it offers. Hope this helps!

finally I had time to finish this one, it took a lot of work ! I am happy to see your progress …

One basic tip in XSI ops!!! … “Autodesk Softimage” is Bake one Ambient Oclusion in the Highpoly mesh ( render map on the property options ), after that you will have one image with informations like bump to help you the texturization process . . ( sure you will need the UVs opened before the process ) .

ISK-86 / skullmonkey - thanks for the comment and for the critcs, it’s is very hard to keep all the details that I had in z-brush in the final render, so that’s true, I really lost a big part of it … will keep studing this !

wev3d - Thanks man, it is always good to listen what you have to say about my work ! about this bake of AO I used the displacement that I generate from z-brush to help me with the texture, I think it’s almost the same result … uhn, will check out !

Cool. Not bad, not bad. It’s more to the movie version of Pyramid Head (There is a difference), but not bad. My major issue with your sculpting is the skirt looks a little too lumpy, or doughy. A wet, stitched together leather look is what I think you are trying to shoot for right? Don’t be afraid to have a little drapery wrinkle & fold action around and between his legs. It would bring that much more depth and power to the image. However, that said, I like what you’ve got going on and want to see some more.

Maybe for me, I would try to build his knife as it was in the game. It just looked more intimidating.

Fantastic looking. I have to agree with the skirt comment. It looks like a bed comforter. All in all though, something to be proud of!
