City Hall is a hub of attractions, activities, shopping and more during Philly’s delightful holiday season.
Visitors can find a whimsical carousel, local vendors, delicious treats and the city’s luminous holiday tree — all in and around one of Philly’s most iconic buildings.
Many elements come together to make the public space a center for holiday cheer, including The Visit Philadelphia Holiday Tree, the Christmas Village and a delightful carousel.
The Visit Philadelphia Holiday Tree
The city’s official holiday tree for the 2020 season is trimmed with more than 4,000 lights and decorations at on the north side of the building. The tree is also supported by a custom-made steel base with designs representing signature Philadelphia landmarks, portions of the city’s skyline and more than 20 of Philadelphia’s diverse neighborhoods.
The official tree-lighting celebration (Wednesday, December 2, 2020) takes place virtually this year.
Carousel at City Hall Courtyard
Adjacent to the North Apron inside the City Hall Courtyard is an extension of Christmas Village in Philadelphia — a European-inspired destination for charming gifts and sweet treats from more than 60 vendors based in LOVE Park, November 26 – December 24.
Guests can take a spin on the enchanting carousel and shop for creative wares from vendors.
In addition to the happenings along the north side of City Hall, there are a number of other holiday attractions located at City Hall as part of Winter at Dilworth Park.
Winter revelers come to ice skate at the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, cozy up with a seasonal beverage at the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, watch the magnificent Deck the Hall Light Show, stroll through the seasonal plant arrangements in the Wintergarden and shop for gifts at the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market.
