Average human teenager Tsukune accidentally enrolls at a boarding school for monsters--no, not jocks and popular kids, but bona fide werewolves, witches and unnameables out of his wildest nightmares! On the plus side, all the girls have a monster crush on him. On the negative side, all the boys are so jealous they want to kill him! And so do the girls he spurns, because he only has eyes for one of them--the far-from-average vampire Moka. On the plus side, Moka only has glowing red eyes for Tsukune. On the O-negative side, she also has a burning, unquenchable thirst for his blood...

About the author
Akihisa Ikeda was born in 1976 in Miyazaki. He debuted as a mangaka with the four-volume magical warrior fantasy series Kiruto in 2002, which was serialized in Monthly Shonen Jump. Rosario+Vampire debuted in Monthly Shonen Jump in March of 2004 and is continuing in the magazine Jump Square (Jump SQ) as Rosario+Vampire: Season II. In Japan, Rosario+Vampire is also available as a drama CD. In 2008, the story was first released as an anime. Season II is also available as an anime now. And in Japan, there is a Nintendo DS game based on the series. Ikeda has been a huge fan of vampires and monsters since he was a little kid. He says one of the perks of being a manga artist is being able to go for walks during the day when everybody else is stuck in the office.

Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. If the video adaptation was "Moka Lite" then the book most certainly is "Moka Latte". Yes the introduction of the principal characters and sequence of events is off plus so many other new and old cast members are more detailed in a parallel universe sort of way but that makes it more interesting. The video animation truly only hinted at what the books actually convey.
Yes it is a lone not wanting to be a "Hero" overall nice guy named Tsukune but its his harem of beauty's and the interplay between them in a world of "Humans and Monsters" that makes it more than eye-candy. Of course without a heroine like Moka, the catalyst that melds the horrific conflicts into peaceful resolutions of love, trust, and harmony there could'nt be a story like this. Did I mention lots of humor, jokes, and mature subject matter?
O.k. so anyway, once I found a VIZ manga app. for the ipod touch, loading the rest of the volumes I did'nt have at half price or $4.99 each was easy. Now I can wait patiently for volume 9 to come out in July or I could go to a Japanese bookstore and order volumes 9,10, and 11 except it's in Japanese.
Looks like Ikeda figures that more volumes is better and easier than starting from scratch on a new series. Good for him and me.
In my opinion if the story ever concludes correctly, the hero needs to marry all his harem mates. Its the only way to keep everyone happy.
The manga does not insult your intelligence but still provides an array of fan service to the benefit of the story instead of at the expense of it. Everything from epic beat downs, dramatic transformations, to steamy situations without the ridiculous over abundance of panty shots and idiotic banter. But that is not to imply that there aren't ANY panty shots.
Story wise it is very well written and will always leave you wanting more. One of the most likable things about the manga is the consistent character development between each other and independently. It is one of my favorite manga and I can't wait for the volumes to come.
This was a very dark story, but well written and well thought out. With only two books left of Season two, how will the group be able to function and defeat the newest threats. I only wish July was here so I can read th next part. Later

Volume Eight of the 'Rosario+Vampire' second season is another very entertaining volume that includes a nice mixture of action and exposition. The revelations about Moka's past are very interesting, allowing us to get a glimpse at just how powerful her mother was as well as learning the truth about the sealing of her powers. This volume also lets us see the Huang parents get a bit of action, allows Kurumu to show off a few more of her powers and allows us to see far more of Moka's eldest sister's true strength. The volume also has some minor comedy moments in places and has the usual 4-koma comics at the end.
The translation of the volume is generally good but I would have preferred that they used the term Shinso instead of First Ancestor as the latter feels a little unwieldy in places.
This was another very good volume of 'Rosario+Vampire Season II' and it is definitely well worth a full five stars.
