ILLINOIS — It's time for local July 4 celebrations, as communities across the state prepare for parades, picnics and Independence Day fireworks.

The Fourth of July falls on a Tuesday this year, and while most events take place on July 4, several fireworks displays, parades and more will be held as early as June 30.

JULY 1: Independence Day Weekend Fireworks. “A dazzling free fireworks display.”

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS

JUNE 30 - JULY 4: Frontier Days Festival. “Five days of fun” including live music, a carnival food and more.

JULY 2: Frontier Days Stampede. The 5K race includes a quarter-mile dash for the kids.


BARTLETT

JUNE 30 to July 4: Fourth of July Festival. The five-day event includes a parade on July 2.

JULY 4: Fireworks. The annual “extravaganza” returns.


BERWYN

JULY 3: “Light Up the Night” Fireworks. Held after sunset.


BRIDGEVIEW

JULY 3: 3rd of July Celebration & Fireworks. Includes a DJ and food trucks.

JULY 4: Bike Parade. "A Flossmoor tradition since 1931.”

JULY 4: Parade. Includes “games, entertainment, and delicious summer fare.”


LEMONT

JULY 1: Food Truck Festival. Tickets are on sale now.

JULY 3: Fireworks 'Extravaganza.' Featuring “food vendors, a beer tent, jumpies and amusements, face painters and more.”


MIDLOTHIAN

JULY 1: Parade. The annual event returns to 147th St.


MOUNT PROSPECT

OAK PARK

NORTH SHORE

EVANSTON

JULY 4: Parade, Concert & Fireworks. The city marks its 100th Independence Day celebration with family activities, a fun run, fireworks and more.


GLENCOE

JULY 3: Party in the Park & Fireworks. Live music, inflatables, games and more will precede the fireworks ceremony at dusk.

JULY 4: Rotary Fun Run and Parade. Join the free 5K race in the morning before the parade steps off downtown in the afternoon.


GLENVIEW

JULY 4: Parade, Music & Fireworks. Includes a bike parade at Jackman Park.


HIGHLAND PARK

JULY 4: Remembrance Ceremony & Community Walk. The community will gather to remember those lost at last year’s July 4 parade.


LAKE FOREST

JULY 4: Festival & Fireworks. This year’s display is being held on grounds east of Deer Path Middle School. A flag-raising is planned in the morning.


LAKE BLUFF

JULY 4: Pancake Breakfast. The Kiwanis Club marks the 50th anniversary of this event.

JULY 4: Parade. This year’s theme is "Sweet Home Lake Bluff.”


NORTHBROOK

JULY 4: Parade & Fireworks. Display is “best viewed from Meadowhill Park and Techny Prairie Park and Fields.”


SKOKIE

JULY 4: Parade. “Marching bands, floats and more” come through downtown.

JULY 4: Fireworks Festival. Enjoy food, live music and carnival games before the fireworks.


WILMETTE

JULY 3: Yankee Doodle Dash 5K. The 5K kicks off at Gillson Park.

JULY 3: Star Spangled Splash Pool Party. This first-ever festival is free for residents.

JULY 3: Fireworks & Festival. Ride-sharing and carpool is recommended for attendees of the fireworks festival, which will include food vendors and live music.


WINNETKA

JULY 1: Freedom Run 5K. Race along the Green Bay Trail.

JULY 4: Fourthfest & Fireworks. The display will not be held at Duke Childs Field this year due to construction.

JULY 4: Parade. A flag-raising ceremony and family foot races will follow the main event.

ROMEOVILLE
