Este documento define y describe las partes principales de una letra, incluyendo el ápice, apófige y diferentes tipos de astas. Explica que el ápice es la unión de dos astas en la parte superior de una letra, mientras que el apófige es un pequeño trazo curvo que enlaza el asta vertical con los remates. ÁPICE • UNIÓN DE DOS ASTAS EN LA PARTE SUPERIOR DE LA LETRA.
APÓFIGE • PEQUEÑO TRAZO CURVO QUE ENLAZA EL ASTA VERTICAL CON LOS TERMINALES O REMATES.
ASTA ASTA ASCENDENTE • Asta de la letra que sobresale por encima de la altura de la X (ojo medio) ASTA DESCENDENTE • Asta de la letra que queda por debajo de la línea de base. ASTA ONDULADA O ESPINA • Rasgo principal de la S o la s. • RASGO PRINCIPAL DE LA LETRA QUE DEFINE SU FORMA ESENCIAL. SIN ELLA, LA LETRA NO EXISTIRÍA.
CONCLUSIÓN Es importante que el diseñador trabaje con la reconstrucción de caracteres además de los elementos antes señalados, asimismo que la teoría se vea en todo momento aplicada a la práctica.
